Since childhood in the Highlands of Aberdeenshire and Inverness-shire, I have had a lifelong passion for textile art and embroidery, which has inspired me to create many textile items based on Scottish wildlife and Pictish art, in particular. I love the beautiful colours of the Scottish landscape and have used these in many of my textile creations.
I studied textile art and design in Glasgow and Durham, obtaining a level 3 City and Guilds qualification in Design and Craft – Stitched Textiles in 2017. Since then, I have created and sold many textile and embroidered items in Alchemist Gallery in Dingwall, Ross-shire and, lately in the Drum Farm Gallery in Drumnadrochit in Inverness-shire.
I was a keen member of the Embroiderers’ Guild for over 40 years, during which I gained much valuable experience in hand and machine embroidery techniques. Around 2012, I had the great privilege of being one of the embroiderers who made the Glasgow School of Art panel of The Great Tapestry of Scotland , which is now on permanent display in Galashiels in the Scottish Borders.
